The Evolution of CeeDee Fishing Products
CeeDee Streamers has been in the fishing industry for several decades now, known for tying premier quality streamer flies for trolling as well as creating innovative products that help anglers catch more fish.
CeeDee, one of our inaugural clients, embarked on a project with us with three key objectives to
1) optimizing the manufacturing processes,
2) enhance the retail attractiveness of their product lineup and
3) lay the groundwork for future product line expansion.
The client selected their SkiJigger product for an overhaul, focusing on redesigning multiple components for 3D printing compatibility.
The initial objective was to redesign the SkiJigger's "float" component. The original method involved CNC machining foam into the required shape, followed by sanding to achieve a smooth surface, and finally, applying a hard two-part epoxy for finishing. This method was not only labor-intensive, requiring several hours of post processing, but also struggled with consistency, due to the finicky nature of foam and epoxy, in the results and limited to using only yellow foam.
Using a 3D printed float significantly streamlined the production process helping to reduce labor costs and enabled enhancements to the component's aesthetic and tactile qualities.
The redesigned float is printed with a hollow interior to maintain buoyancy and can be now customized with a variety of colors and design.
This adaptability allows for rapid modifications to accommodate future versions, including the incorporation of custom text or logos
We also introduced modifications such as a versatile propeller assembly designed to adjust to varying fishing conditions and an updated keel design that simplifies manufacturing while improving the product's visual appeal.
This partnership has led to a lot of innovation to test new offerings to ensure Cee Dee Streamers remains at the forefront of the fishing industry's evolution.
